Brown Bear Hunts

My brown bear hunts are conducted in Unit 9 “The Alaska Peninsula”, where I started my career guiding. This area (along with Kodiak) is home to the biggest brown bears in the world.  You will start this adventure in Anchorage where you will take a prearranged charter flight to a remote jumping off point.  Here you will be met by my bush pilot who will shuttle you to the specific camp I have chosen for your hunt where I will be waiting.  Camps are made of comfortable “bomb shelter” style tents and cots. I always bring gear for short spike out trips if necessary.  Sometimes the flexibility of a portable spike camp can put you in range of that elusive monster bear.   I offer spring brown bear hunts in even years and fall brown bear hunts in odd years.  This alternating of seasons is how the area is managed for trophy quality bears.  You can expect to see 2-4 bears a day on these hunts.  Trophies are generally taken between 8.5 and 9.5 feet with a chance at a 10 plus foot bear.
